Julia Fernandez-Pol, Bio

In English

Born in Colorado Springs, USA, in 1984, Julia Fernandez-Pol attended Boston University where she obtained a Master in Fine Arts. Van Straaten Gallery (Denver), Schmitter Gallery (St. Louis), Commonwealth Gallery (Boston) and Morton Fine Art (Washington) count among her most important exhibitions. She has also obtained prizes and taken part in several art competitions, such as the Boston Young Contemporaries, the Sorger Award of the Washington University in St. Louis and the Vermont Studio Center Artist Grant.

She defines herself as an acute observer and an admirer of the natural world. Her baroque sensibility leads her to create surfaces with great attention to detail and organic exaggeration, systems where chaos and control are simultaneously present and where, according to her own words, she intends to balance and exploit in her work.

Julia Fernandez-Pol and Agustín Soibelman are now closing the 2010 exhibition cycle at Galería Wussmann with their show of recent work. Fernandez-Pol’s work opened at Wussmann last Novemeber and remains there through March 2011.
